Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for carrying out maintenance on a printing or copying system comprising at least two system computers (BE, GS, SRA),i.e. a central device control computer (GS) which controls a plurality of units (AG1, AG2, AG3), and a raster process computer (SRA) which is connected to the device control computer (GS) and which contains a print data network connection (LAN 1) for incoming print or copy data which is to be rasterized. At least one of the system computers (BE, GS, SRA) is embodied in the form of a service connection computer having a maintenance data connection (LAN 2). A maintenance computer (SNB) is connected to the maintenance data connection (LAN 2). The service connection computer (SRA) is subsequently switched on and a network link is set up between the service connection computer (SRA) and the maintenance computer (SNB). Control programs of the maintenance computer (SNB) are loaded onto the service connection computer (SRA) via the network link (LAN 2).
