Abstract:
Disclosed are a method and device for upgrading a WiFi module in a set top box, a set top box and a system. The method comprises: monitoring an upgrade stream broadcast by a server by means of a cable television network, wherein the upgrade stream comprises a descriptor and upgrade firmware, the upgrade firmware comprises upgrade firmware from a plurality of manufacturers, and the descriptor comprises hardware configuration information; obtaining hardware configuration information of a WiFi module and comparing the obtained hardware configuration information with the hardware configuration information in the upgrade descriptor for matching; and if the obtained hardware configuration information is consistent with the hardware configuration information in the descriptor, downloading, from the upgrade stream, upgrade firmware corresponding to the hardware configuration information of the WiFi module, and upgrading the WiFi module according to the upgrade firmware.
