Abstract:
The present embodiment discloses a video coding method and device using template-based prediction. In the present embodiment, a video decoding device decodes a distance index (adjacent_idx) indicating a distance between a current block and a template area. The video decoding device identifies the template area on the basis of the distance between the current block and the template area and a shape of the template area. The video decoding device searches for, using the template area, an optimal template in a search area on the basis of template matching, and then generates a prediction block of the current block from a reference block corresponding to the optimal template.
