Abstract:
Presented are a method and device which, in video encoding and decoding processes, may: select a candidate motion vector for a current block from a list of motion vector candidates for the current block; determine a motion vector for the current block by performing motion detection on the basis of the candidate motion vector; perform motion compensation by using the determined motion vector for the current block; and, on the basis of whether local luminance compensation is applied to the current block, apply local luminance compensation to the current block, wherein a cost function used when performing the motion detection is determined on the basis of whether local luminance compensation is applied to the current block.
