Embodiments of the present invention relate to the technical field of video processing and relate to a method and device for video preview and an electronic device. The method comprises: determining a video playback state on a currently viewable interface of a video playback terminal; correspondingly creating playback controls in at least one preview space on the viewable interface; the playback controls each correspondingly load one path of video data to be previewed; simultaneously starting the playback controls, and playing back the loaded video data. The device comprises a playback state identification module, a playback control creating module, a preview loading module, and a preview video playback module. With the method and device for video preview and the electronic device provided in the embodiments of the present invention, multiple playback controls are created, a preview video is loaded and played back by the playback controls created, a user is provided with a program preview mode of increased vividness, that is, a full-effect dynamic preview mode, thus allowing the user to clearly comprehend video content of each thumbnail list, and facilitating the user in making a viewing selection.
