Abstract:
A method for diagnosing the degree of deterioration of a plurality of battery cells constituting a battery pack by a battery management system may comprise the steps of: calculating accumulated energy for the battery pack by using a battery pack current flowing through the battery pack and a battery pack voltage, which is the voltage of the battery pack; calculating the cell capacity of each of the plurality of battery cells at each predetermined cell capacity calculation cycle; calculating a cell capacity deviation for each of the plurality of battery cells at each cell capacity calculation cycle; calculating a degree of change in the cell capacity deviation for each of the plurality of battery cells at each cumulative cycle in which the accumulated energy increases by a predetermined unit; and diagnosing whether there is an abnormality in each battery cell according to a result of comparing the degree of change in the cell capacity deviation calculated at each cumulative cycle with a predetermined threshold value.
