Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for diagnosing unstable atherosclerosis plaques, using a method to determine the probability of a person suffering from a cerebrovascular disease and a method to select a patient that could be treated with a therapy to eliminate or stabilise the carotid atherosclosis plaque on the basis of the determination of the expression level of at least one gene selected from the group of genes shown in table 1. The invention also relates to a kit comprising suitable reagents for determining the expression levels of at least one gene selected from the group of genes shown in table 1 and, optionally, reagents for determining the expression levels of one or more caretaker genes, and to the uses of said kit.
