Title:
METHOD OF DIFFERENTIATING MESENCHYMAL STEM CELL INTO LIVER CELL AND ARTIFICIAL HUMAN LIVER CELL
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2005/024004
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A liver cell can be hardly established. Therefore, it is intended to provide a means of preparing a liver cell useful in the liver cell transplantation therapy for liver injury which comprises differentiating a mesenchymal stem cell (in particular, a stroma cell, i.e., a bone marrow-origin mesenchymal stem cell) the growth method for which has been already established into a liver cell. It is found out that, by transplanting human mesenchymal stem cells into a mammal suffering from chronic liver injury induced by continuous chemical administration (for example, rat liver), the human mesenchymal stem cells can be differentiated into liver cells or matured liver cells. Thus, a means of differentiating a mesenchymal stem cell into a matured liver cell has been developed.
