Provided are a method for displaying a fingerprint recognition region, and a mobile terminal. A touch screen of the mobile terminal has a fingerprint recognition function. The method comprises: detecting a tap operation of a finger in a fingerprint recognition region; determining the size of a region of contact between the finger and the touch screen; and according to the size of the region of contact between the finger and the touch screen, adjusting the size of the fingerprint recognition region and/or displaying the fingerprint recognition region. Since the mobile terminal dynamically adjusts the size of a fingerprint recognition region, the success rate of fingerprint recognition is improved, and the power consumption of highlighting the fingerprint recognition region is reduced.
