Information is suitably distributed through a communication network, a communication line, etc., and an information management block in which keys for identifying the managed information are recorded is introduced. An apparatus on the side utilizing the information is called an information acquisition apparatus. When the key of the information to be utilized is given, the information acquisition apparatus makes an access to a corresponding information management block and judges whether or not the information retained at present is suitable from the content of the block. If this information is judged to be suitable, it is utilized as it is. If updating is judged to be required, an information distribution apparatus is required to give the information, and the information is received, recorded and utilized. The address information such as business card information is easily and correctly reported, and the latest address information is suitably distributed. Commodity information described in catalogues of mail-order selling can be kept as latest one. Messages from the artists of this month and guide information of newly released music compact disks can be distributed to apparatuses for playing music CDs. Distribution of computer programs and version-up can be made automatically and suitably. Dealers selling computer hardwares can reduce the quantities of softwares to be bundled and can make the market price more economical. Users can easily install only necessary softwares. Dealers of softwares can suitably execute version-up. Therefore, improvement of user service and charge income by version-up can be expected. When registered to a menu, sales chance of softwares can be expanded.
