Abstract:
In order to enhance the image display quality of a plasma display device by stabilizing the write discharge and enhancing the gradation in a dark region, a sub-field comprises: a first sustaining operation sub-field in which during a sustaining period, a first rising slope waveform voltage rising from a base voltage level up to a first voltage is applied to a scan electrode after the generation of a sustaining pulse; and a second sustaining operation sub-field in which during a sustaining period, a second rising slope waveform voltage rising from the base voltage level up to a second voltage is applied to a scan electrode without generating a sustaining pulse. In an initialization period, either a compulsory initialization operation or a selective initialization operation is performed. The second sustaining operation sub-field is placed immediately before the first sustaining operation sub-field in which the compulsory initialization operation is performed.
