Abstract:
Provided is a method for drying an unbaked honeycomb molded body by which the honeycomb molded body can be uniformly dried with little fluctuation in temperature distribution inside the honeycomb molded body during drying and by which a fine-quality honeycomb dried body is obtained with good productivity, the unbaked honeycomb molded body being constituted by a ceramic material and a material composition containing water, and having a cell wall that partitions and forms a plurality of cells extending from one end surface to the other end surface, the method comprising: a dielectric drying step of performing dielectric drying of the unbaked honeycomb molded body while maintaining a temperature in a central part of the unbaked honeycomb molded body of 100°C or less to obtain a primary dried honeycomb molded body from which 30 to 70% of a total moisture content contained in the unbaked honeycomb molded body before drying has been removed; and a microwave drying step of performing microwave drying of the primary dried honeycomb molded body obtained in the dielectric drying step to obtain the honeycomb dried body from which the remaining moisture content has been removed.
