Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for electrochemical extraction of uranium from seawater using an oxygen vacancy-containing metal oxide. The method comprises: adding propanetriol to a solution of indium nitrate in isopropanol, then transferring the resulting solution to a high-temperature high-pressure reaction vessel for reaction to obtain spherical indium hydroxide solids; dissolving the spherical indium hydroxide solids in deionized water, then transferring the resulting solution to a high-temperature high-pressure reaction vessel for reaction to obtain flake-like indium hydroxide solids; calcining the flake-like indium hydroxide solids to obtain calcined oxygen vacancy-containing In 2O 3-x; adding the In 2O 3-x to ethanol, then adding a membrane solution; applying the resulting solution to a carbon paper evenly and allowing to dry naturally; clamping the dried carbon paper using a gold electrode, which is to be used as the working electrode in a three-electrode system, wherein a platinum wire is used as the counter electrode and a calomel electrode is used as the reference electrode; and adding simulated seawater to an electrolytic cell, placing the three-electrode system in the simulated seawater in the electrolytic cell, stirring the simulated seawater to allow elctrolysis so as to achieve the extraction of uranium.
