Abstract:
Provided is a method for electron beam irradiation of a roller bearing retainer, with which an outer diameter surface and both end surfaces of the retainer can be irradiated with an electron beam simultaneously in a uniform manner, and the energy application rate of the electron beam can be applied to the greatest extent to an outer diameter surface film, which is where a sliding characteristic is most necessary in the roller bearing retainer. In this method for electron beam irradiation of a cylindrical roller bearing retainer (1) having multiple pocket parts for retaining rolling bodies, a resin layer formed on the outer diameter surface (5) and on both end surfaces (7) of the cylindrical roller bearing retainer (1) is irradiated with an electron beam from the outer diameter surface in a nitrogen atmosphere while the retainer is rotated around the cylinder axis.
