Th invention relates to foundry engineering, more specifically to methods and devices for electroslag surfacing of composite rolls with molten metal and can be used for producing and repairing rollers of various shapes and sizes, rolls and roller tables etc, which are provided with a wear-resistant working layer as required by the operation conditions thereof. The inventive method for electroslag surfacing of composite rollers with molten metal consists in embodying a diametric boss on a billet-when said boss is molten the first portion of metal is supplied-and in producing a rotational magnetic field whose direction is periodically changeable at the interface between slag and metal baths. Through slots are embodied on the intermediate section of a current-conducting crystalliser, the inner surface of the current-conducting section thereof being embodied in such a way that it is tapered downwards. The inventive device for carrying out said method is provided with a bearing element arranged on a driving unit, and the crystalliser is embodied in such a way that it is removable from the operating position thereof. Said invention makes it possible to stabilise the operations of facing and ensure the quality of the deposited layer.
