AMENDED CLAIMS received by the International Bureau on 31 May 2016 (31.05.2016) A method for embedding Thermoplastic Elastomer sealing material directly on the threads of the fitting during the production of the fitting in a two stage injection process without any manual work or intervention, so that there is no need to apply additional sealing material during installation of the fitting, being characterized by the following two stages with two different materials: In the first stage of the injection process normal plastic material is used to form the body and the threads of the fitting, minus the shape of the Thermoplastic Elastomer sealing material, with the technical properties and shape required. The splitting of the thread is to make a gap to allow for a continuous even sealing line, where the mold part meets the plastic part produced in the first stage, all this in order to avoid possible leakage/flash of material which would be difficult to avoid during the second injection stage if the sealing line goes over the shape of the thread. - During the second stage, the Thermoplastic Elastomer sealing material is injected on to the position of the threads and is adhered to the body by the heat of the melted Elastomer sealing material, so that the two materials become attached as one body, with the Thermoplastic Elastomer sealing material molded into the shape and the position required, without need of manual work or intervention where the profile of the Elastomer sealing material is the same as the threads of the fitting, but is risen higher to seal the space between the fitting and another fitting screwed on it. A method as per Claim 1 , characterized by the use of a double injection machine and a mold specialized for double injection molding, so that the finished product is created automatically in two stages without any manual handling. |
