Abstract:
The invention relates to the field of emulsion separation by filtration. A method of emulsion separation includes filtration of an emulsion through a layer of a granulated load and regeneration of the load. Part of the surface of the load granules are made to be non-wettable for a dispersion phase because said surface is covered with a dispersion medium, wherein prior to filtration the load is impregnated with the dispersion medium. The load is regenerated by means of backwashing. The load granules used are open-pore granules, the open pores of which have a capillary effect with respect to the dispersion medium. At least the external layer of the load granules contains particles of abrasive material and is made of a material based on diatomite. The granules have a round shape. The height of the load layer is between 0.3 and 5.0 m. The ratio of the height of the load layer to the maximum dimension of the flow section thereof is no less than 0.2. The height of the load layer is no less than 50 equivalent diameters of the granules. The technical effect is to raise the efficiency of the emulsion separation process.
