Abstract:
[Problem] To enhance the resistance, i.e., rotproof properties and heat resistance (flame retardancy), of wood and obtain a mildew-proofing effect at low cost through an extremely simple production process.
[Solution] A process which comprises: a carbonization step in which the surface of wood is completely carbonized; a heating step; a step in which the wood immediately after the heating step is immersed in a solution of slaked lime; and a step in which the wood is dried and processed. The immersion step and the drying/processing step may be conducted in the reverse order.
