Abstract:
Disclosed is a method which is for estimating the condition of a road surface and which can estimate by further subdividing a snow covered road during travel. In the disclosed method, tyre vibration in the circumferential-direction of a tyre, road surface temperature (T) and tyre-generated noise are each detected by an acceleration sensor, a road surface thermometer, and a microphone, and then band values P11, P12 and P13 for a pre-tread region (R1), band values P21, P22 and P23 for a tread region (R2), band values P31, P32 and P33 for a pre-kick-out region (R3), band values P41 and P42 for a kick-out region (R4), and band values P51, P52 and P53 for a post kick-out region (R5) are calculated from the tyre vibration data. A sound pressure level comparison (Q)=(PA/PB), which is the comparison of a band power value (PB) of a high frequency band and a band power value (PA) of a low frequency band, is calculated from data on the tyre-generated noise; and band value (Pij), data on the road surface temperature (T), and the sound pressure level comparison (Q) are used to estimate the condition of the road surface.
