Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for estimating the length of a roller chain by using the fricative sound generated by the friction between a roller and the groove of a sprocket when the roller chain is rotated by engaging with the grooves of the sprocket. A method by which a roller chain length estimation device estimates the length of a roller chain by using the fricative sound, according to an embodiment of the present invention, comprises the steps of: acquiring noise data generated when the roller chain including a plurality of links rotates rollers; detecting fricative sound signals from the noise data; detecting peaks in the fricative sound signals; calculating the distance between the peaks so as to calculate the time interval required for each of the plurality of links to rotate the roller; detecting a normal link from among the plurality of links on the basis of the time intervals for the plurality of links; converting the time interval of the normal link into digital data according to a sampling period; acquiring a chain length corresponding to one item of data of the digital data by using the time interval of the normal link and a configured length; and acquiring the pitch of each of the plurality of links by using the chain length corresponding to the one item of data.
