Abstract:
This method for estimating the state of an endoscope includes: a first imaging step (S101) for capturing a first image using the endoscope; a second imaging step (S102) for capturing a second image using the endoscope after having captured the first image; a detection step (S107) for detecting at least one of the orientation, movement rate, and acceleration of the endoscope using a sensor attached to the endoscope; and a calculation step (S113) for calculating state information that includes at least one of the position of the endoscope at the time of capturing the second image, the orientation of the endoscope at the time of capturing the second image, the movement rate of the endoscope from the time of capturing the first image to the time of capturing the second image, and the acceleration of the endoscope from the time of capturing the first image to the time of capturing the second image, the calculation being carried out using the results of detection by the sensor as well as the first image and the second image.
