Abstract:
The present invention is a method for evaluating the surface state of particles, the method having: a dispersion step for dispersing colored particles in a two-component dispersion medium that contains two types of dispersion medium that have different polarities and form an interface; an index acquisition step for acquiring an index that indicates the amount of particles contained in one dispersion medium from among the two types of dispersion medium; and a determination step for determining, on the basis of the index, the appropriateness of the surface state of the colored particles for dyeing of biological material. According to this method for evaluating the surface state of particles, it is possible to evaluate the surface state of fluorescent nanoparticles or other such colored particles, such as to what degree the particles are hydrophilic, in a short period of time and with high sensitivity and stability without using a large quantity of particles. This makes it possible to effectively evaluate the appropriateness of colored particles used in dyeing of biological material.
