Abstract:
The purpose of the present invention is to recover a high-purity manganese-containing solution from a waste dry battery with high yield. Provided is a method for recovering manganese contained in a waste dry battery, the method comprising the following steps in this order: a step for selecting a waste dry battery; a pulverization/sieving step for producing a powdery or granular material from the waste dry battery; a step for treating the powdery or granular material with an acid/an oxidizing agent; a first solid-liquid separation step for separating a first leaching residue; an acid/(reducing agent) treatment step for producing a second leaching solution from the first leaching residue; a second solid-liquid separation step for separating the second leaching solution; and a manganese extraction step for producing a solution containing manganese ions from the second leaching solution. In the method, the manganese extraction step includes a specified zinc removal step and a specified iron removal step in a random order.
