Abstract:
A method for forming a breakage start section of a metallic part, provided with a first step for forming by machining a groove (11) in a portion of the metallic part (1), said portion corresponding to the breakage start section, and also with a second step for forming recesses (12) in the bottom portion of the groove (11) in such a manner that the recesses (12) are separated from each other at predetermined intervals. The breakage start section of the metallic part, said breakage start section having a stable breakage surface after breakage, can be formed at low cost by the method, and the method can manufacture a connecting rod having uniform breakage surfaces which can be obtained by impact energy significantly lower than that conventionally required. High-quality connecting rods can be obtained while satisfying the demand for energy saving.
