Abstract:
A method (I) for forming a bright coating film, which comprises a process (1) of applying, on an article to be applied, an aqueous bright thermosetting base coating (A) in two to five stages, wherein the application is carried out in such a manner that each coating film in the second stage or a later stage has a thickness of 0.3 to 5 μm in terms of a cured film, a process (2) of applying a thermosetting clear coating (B) on an uncured or thermally cured coating film of the base coating (A), a process (3) of applying an aqueous bright thermosetting base coating (C) in two to five stages on an uncured or thermally cured coating film of the thermosetting clear coating (B), (4) a process of applying a thermosetting clear coating (D) on an uncured or thermally cured coating film of the base coating (C), and a process (5) of heating a four layer coating film comprising a coating film of the base coating (A), a coating film of the clear coating (B), a coating film of the base coating (C) and a coating film of the clear coating (D), to form a cured product of said four layer coating film; and a method (II) according to the method (I) for forming a bright coating film, which further includes a step of applying a thermosetting clear coating (E) followed by curing.
