Abstract:
Provided is a method for forming a button, wherein the button can be formed from a relatively thin metal plate, and the button does not damage thread used for attaching the button to fabric. When forming a metal button (10, 20, 30) that will be attached to fabric (1, 1') with thread (2, 2'), four thread holes (13, 23, 33) are opened by passing four hole opening pins (42) that each have a quadrangular pyramid-shaped tip (42a) through a center part (11') of a plate-shaped intermediate member (10') that will become a button (10, 20, 30); said passing is done through the center part (11') from the front side to the rear side of the same. Said opening of the thread holes (13, 23, 33) forms everted parts (14') that protrude out from around the periphery of the thread holes (13, 23, 33) on the rear side. Four of said everted parts (14') are formed around the periphery of each thread hole at intervals of 90°, by the four pyramidal surfaces (42a") between the ridges (42a') on the tip (42a) of each hole opening pin (42). Next, on the rear side of the center part (11'), the button (10, 20, 30) is completed by bending each everted part (14') outward in the radial direction of the thread hole, from the base side to the tip side.
