Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for generating an intermediate view-point depth image based on a disparity increment of stereo depth images, wherein left and right depth images are received, a disparity increment per depth between the light right images is obtained and the intermediate view-point depth image is generated using the disparity increment per depth, and the method comprises the steps of: (a) extracting a depth value of one (hereinafter, "the first sample image") of the left and right depth images, as a group belonging to a high level or a low level according to sizes of the depth values, and selecting the most frequent depth value (hereinafter, "the first and second depth values") in each group; (b) obtaining disparity values by stereo matching the depth image (hereinafter, "the second sample image") for forming one left and right pair with the first sample image with respect to all pixels of the first sample image having the first or second depth value, and obtaining the most frequent disparity values (the first and second disparity values) from the disparity values of all pixels; (c) obtaining the disparity increment per depth by dividing the increment of first and second disparity values by the increment of the first and second depth values; and (d) obtaining the depth of the intermediate view-point depth image using the disparity increment per depth. As described above and according to the method for generating the intermediate view-point depth image, the picture quality of the intermediate view-point depth image can be enhanced, and the intermediate view-point depth image from the left and right depth images can be generated with improved performance speed.
