Abstract:
A method for generating polygon data from NURBS (Non Uniform RationalB-Spline) representing a parametric surface. With the procession of a program, NURBS object data is subjected to coordinate transformation to the coordinates in a coordinate system where the origin is the viewpoint. The definition with which an object is displayed on a display is determined. According to the determined definition, the number of pieces into which each polygon is divided when the NURBS object data is transformed into an object constituted of polygons is found, and according to the number, the vertexes of the polygons to be transformed are calculated. Out of the polygons, polygons all the coordinates of the vertexes of which are out of the screen of the display and polygons which are checked if the reverses are displayed and judged that the reverses are displayed and which have an attribute of both-sides display are deleted, and the attribute values of the vertexes of the remaining polygons are calculated. Further, the remaining polygons are subjected to a rendering processing. An image display using the method is also disclosed.
