Abstract:
A method of handling an oxide superconductor wire (11) which consists of a flexible tape-like substrate (13) having a coefficient of thermal expansion smaller than that of an oxide super-conductor layer (12) provided on the substrate (13). The wire (11) is heat-treated and is then bent so that the layer (12) is positioned inside and the substrate (13) is positioned outside. The tensile strain of the layer (12) can be relaxed and the superconductivity is hardly deteriorated. The superconductivity is hardly deteriorated even when the wire (11) is used as coils (18) or cables by such a handling method.
