Abstract:
The present application is applicable to the technical field of communication technology, and provided therein are a method for identifying an embedded subscriber identity module (eSIM) card, and a terminal device. The method comprises: after completing an initialization process, driving an eSIM card to power on; querying whether the eSIM card is activated or querying whether an activated configuration file profile is present in the eSIM card; and when the query result is that the eSIM card is not activated or no activated profile is present, powering off the eSIM card. An eSIM card not being activated or no activated profile being present in the eSIM card means that a user does not need to use the related function or service of the eSIM card, at which time, powering off the eSIM card can reduce the power consumption of the eSIM card and reduce the power consumption of a UE. An eSIM card not being activated indicates that no profile is present in the eSIM card.
