Title:
METHOD FOR IMMOBILIZING ARSENIC, AND ARSENIC-CONTAINING VITRIFIED WASTE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2017/110877
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided is a method for immobilizing arsenic characterized in that calcium arsenate is added to a vitrification material that contains iron, silica, and alkali components so as to reach an iron/silica weight ratio of 0.5-0.9 and an alkali component content of 14-26 wt%. For example, the method for immobilizing arsenic may comprise adding an alkali solution and an oxidizing agent to a copper-arsenate-containing solution and carrying out oxidizing leaching, separating the leach residue into a solid and a liquid, adding slaked lime to the recovered alkali arsenate solution and generating calcium arsenate, and adding the vitrification material to the recovered calcium arsenate so as to reach the desired iron/silica weight ratio and alkali component content and changing the arsenic into vitrified waste.
