Abstract:
Provided is a method for improving the iron grade of iron ore, said method enabling the improvement of the iron grade by efficiently removing gangue included in the iron ore and enabling the iron ore to have a form that is easily usable as a raw material in the manufacture of iron. The present invention is a method for improving the iron grade of iron ore by grinding gangue-containing iron ore that has been reduced using a reducing gas and then removing the gangue by magnetic separation, wherein: said reduction is controlled such that parameter X represented by a function of the reduction time for the iron ore and the partial pressures of the reducing gas satisfies [X=t×(PH2+0.3×PCO)≥5], where t is the reduction time [min] for the iron ore, PH2 is the H2 partial pressure [atm] of the reducing gas, and PCO is the CO partial pressure [atm] of the reducing gas; or, an iron ore with an Ig loss≥10wt% is reduced using H2 gas so that the metallization ratio is ≥60wt%, and after grinding so that the grounded particles have a diameter of no more than 2mm and D50≥100μm, undergoes magnetic separation.
