Abstract:
The invention addresses the problem of providing farmed fish or caught wild fish which are in a "fatty" state in which the intramuscular lipid content in the fish is increased and the taste and texture are improved when the farmed fish or the caught wild fish are shipped out, and also providing a fish-rearing feed therefor. The problem is solved by: preparing a fish-rearing feed for increasing the intramuscular lipid content in fish, the fish-rearing feed containing the required amount of essential amino acids deemed necessary for fish to grow, the fish-rearing feed being prepared by using essential amino acids other than lysine to satisfy the required amount of amino acids needed for fish growth, and adjusting the amount of lysine, as an essential amino acid, contained in the feed so that the lysine content is at or below the required amount of essential amino acids needed for growth; using the fish-rearing feed, administering the fish-rearing feed for a period of two to seven days before shipment, and rearing the farmed fish during the rearing period before shipment of the farmed fish to increase the intramuscular lipid content of the farmed fish; and providing the farmed fish in a "fatty state."
