Abstract:
A method of increasing the strength of a cold worked part by an ultrasonic shock treatment, characterized by comprising the step of applying the ultrasonic shock treatment to the tensile side surface of the cold bending worked part of a metal, whereby the hardness of the surface can be increased by 10% or higher than the hardness of the surface to which the ultrasonic shock treatment is not applied, and the fracture toughness and the fatigue strength of the metal can be increased by reducing a residual tensile stress.
