Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of indicating the lateral manoeuvre margins on either side of the flight plan path of an aircraft. The parts of the flight plan of an aircraft corresponding to low-altitude lateral paths can comprise passages having lateral freedom that is restricted by risks of collision with the ground or obstacles on the ground. The inventive method can be used to indicate said information to the crew so that they are extra vigilant. For said purpose, an onboard navigation display is used to display a vertical manoeuvre margin profile (21) concerning the navigation strip which is increased on the right and left by lateral manoeuvre margins, said vertical manoeuvre margin profile being superimposed on the vertical navigation profile (20) which only concerns the navigation strip.
