Abstract:
A technique for inhibiting turbulent tapping is provided in which, of the space formed on the back side of a blast-furnace lining, an area around the taphole, which is an outlet for a gas leaking from the furnace, is filled with a material without fail. This technique enables the material forced into the space to retain over long the effects of sealing the space and preventing gas leakage from the furnace. The method of inhibiting turbulent tapping from occurring in a blast furnace comprises forcing a highly viscous material into the space formed on the back side of the blast-furnace lining through an injection hole (9) formed beside the taphole (6). The method is characterized in that a highly viscous material having a viscosity of 2,000-7,000 cP is forced into the space during tapping while utilizing the ejector effect that occurs near the taphole.
