Abstract:
Provided is a method for internally splitting an end-part cross-section of a metal plate or a metal rod in which the cut length and width of a split portion can be freely adjusted and a smooth and uniform surface can be formed in order to make it possible to accurately split only a desired location within the cross-section at one end part of the metal plate or the metal rod. Also provided are a method for manufacturing a metal container or a metal pipe, and a method for joining a metal component using the internal splitting method. This invention is characterized in having: a step for using a means for determining the width of a split portion and bringing a cleaving punch or a splitting punch into contact with the interior of the cross-section at an edge section at one end of a metal plate or a metal rod and forming a cleft; and a step for repeatedly press-molding the cleft using the cleaving punch or the splitting punch so that further splitting occurs, a pressing die which has a pressing margin and an opening on at least one side being used when holding both surfaces of the metal plate or two opposing positions around the metal rod in advance during each operation, and the pressing die being positioned in accordance with the position of the distal end of the portion to be split.
