Title:
METHOD OF KILLING INSECTS IN GRAIN AND STORING GRAIN, AND GRAIN STORING CONTAINER
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1997/022258
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A method and a container for storing grain such as unpolished rice over a long term in a condition that harmful insects do not breed in the grain in the container. An inner bag (10) of a flexible material is put in an outer bag (12) of high strength. After grain is put in the inner bag, carbon dioxide is fed into the inner bag (10) and the inner bag is sealed, thus storing the grain in a condition that harmful insects are killed. It is preferable in view of insect killing effect to hold carbon dioxide of a concentration of 40 % or more in the inner bag (10) over seven days or more. The inner bag has a CO2, permeability of 6300 cc/m2.24hr.1atm or less to keep an oxygen deficient state.
