Provided is a method of knitting a tubular fabric wherein a back stitch can be formed without forming any twist stitch in the tubular fabric. A feeder is moved outward (left direction on the paper), a stitch γ of BB is formed during the movement, and then the feeder is located on the outside of a stitch α of FB. The stitch α is then transferred to an idle needle located on the farther outside of knitting width than the stitch γ of BB. Thereafter, the feeder located on the outside of the stitch α is moved inward (right direction on the paper), and located on the inside of the stitch α. While the feeder located on the inside of the stitch α is moved outward, a yarn is fed to the knitting needle of BB which locks the stitch α, thus forming a stitch β which becomes a back stitch when the tubular fabric is viewed from the outside of the tube. Thereafter, the feeder is moved inward and a stitch ε is formed anew following to a stitch δ which is in close vicinity to the stitch α before being transferred.
