METHOD AND MACHINE FOR MAKING TWISTED ROPES

A method of making twisted ropes where the wires (2) fed from bobins in the translational movement are given, before their twisting into the rope, a residual deformation by means of simple bending of each wire (2) against a support (3) and its subsequent bending in a direction which is turned in relation to the direction of the simple bending. A machine for making ropes in which the device for giving to the wires (2) the residual deformation is mounted on the outcoming part of a hollow shaft (14) coaxially to the latter and contains a casing (23) provided, for each wire (2), with a pair of consecutively arranged supports (26, 27). The first support (26) is mounted rotatably about its geometrical axis (28a) whereas the second support (27) is mounted with the possibility of both free rotation about its geometrical axis (31a) and adjusting rotation about an axis (33) oriented perpendicularly to the geometrical axis (31a) of the second support (27).
