Abstract:
This method that is for machining a ceramic matrix composite (CMC) and increases the machining speed for the ceramic matrix composite has: a step for irradiating from a laser head (21), scanning a laser light irradiated section (32) over the surface of a material (30) to be machined of a ceramic matrix composite (CMC), thus forming a deteriorated layer at the surface of the material (30) to be machined at the irradiated section (32); and a step for successively eliminating the deteriorated layer formed at the irradiated section (32) by means of an endmill (25). The deteriorated layer is formed by forming cracks as a result of irradiation by pulsed oscillation laser light and heating to a predetermined temperature by means of irradiating the irradiated section (32) by continuous oscillation laser light.
