Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for manufacturing an expanded electric wire, which can form a fine foam in an expanded insulating layer and can improve satisfactorily the production efficiency of the expanded electric wire. Specifically disclosed is a method for manufacturing an expanded electric wire, wherein the expanded electric wire can be produced through an expanded insulation layer formation step of forming an expanded insulating layer on a conductive material. In the method, the expanded insulating layer formation step comprises the substeps of: introducing a base rein into an extruder; introducing a foaming agent into the extruder; and extruding a mixture composed of the base resin and the foaming agent through the extruder to form an expanded insulating layer on a conductive material, wherein the resin contained in the mixture has a shear stress of 0.40 to 0.80 MPa and the base resin is a propylene resin.
