Abstract:
Provided are a method and device for continuously manufacturing 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PDO) by subjecting 3-hydroxypropionaldehyde (3-HPA) to a hydrogenation reaction. The ratio (L/D ratio) of the tube length and opening diameter of a fixed bed catalyst reactor for performing the hydrogenation reaction is 5 to 100, and a space velocity of 1 to 6 h-1, a temperature of 50 to 100°C, and a pressure of 10 to 17 MPa are set for the reactor to thereby inhibit the production of byproducts in the reaction process of the hydrogentation reaction. Facilities costs and operating costs can thereby be reduced.
