Abstract:
A method of efficiently manufacturing a covered article having an excellent releasability and a specified surface shape with high accuracy, comprising the steps of holding a forming mold so that the surface thereof faces upward horizontally, feeding sol-gel material liquid onto the surface to form a film, heating the surface, bringing a base material into contact with the film and further heating the surface, releasing the forming mold, and further heating the surface if necessary to cover the surface of the base material with the gel film having the surface of such a shape that the surface shape of the forming mold is inversed, wherein a sol-gel material liquid film edge part maintaining district is provided at a position lower than the surface of the forming mold along the outer peripheral surface of the forming mold, and the sol-gel material liquid is fed so that the edge part of the film of the sol-gel material liquid forms the film reaching the district beyond the surface of the forming mold.
