Abstract:
Provided is a method for manufacturing a Bi2TeySe3-y nanocompound thermoelectric material (0 < y < 3) comprising the steps of: preparing a Bi-Te-Se solution by introducing Bi, Te, and Se precursors into a solvent (step 1); preparing a hydrate by mixing the Bi-Te-Se solution prepared in step 1 with a basic aqueous solution (step 2); preparing a Bi2TeySe3-y reaction product by introducing a reducing agent to the hydrate prepared in step 2 and through a liquid phase reduction at room temperature (step 3); aging the Bi2TeySe3-y reaction product prepared in step 3 (step 4); and preparing Bi2TeySe3-y y nanoparticles by filtering and drying the Bi2TeySe3-y reaction product that has been aged in step 4. Bi2TeySe3-y nanocompounds prepared by means of the liquid phase reduction step according to the present invention is capable of preventing growth of particles and forming uniform nanoparticles by not requiring additional heat treatment for removing chemical additives. As a result, the sizes of particles of the Bi2TeySe3-y nanocompounds are between 1 and 100 nm and are evenly distributed, thereby reducing thermoelectricity conduction of the Bi2TeySe3-y nanocompounds and ultimately improving thermoelectric figure of merit.
