Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a cathode active material that is capable of reducing the cathode resistance of a secondary battery by enhancing the electron conductivity thereof without reducing the discharge capacity of the secondary battery. [Solution] A cathode-active-material manufacturing method according to the present invention includes: obtaining a lithium mixture by mixing transition-metal-containing composite compound particles containing lanthanum with a lithium compound; calcinating said lithium mixture at a temperature that is at or below the melting point of the lithium compound; and, subsequently, firing the lithium mixture at a firing temperature in a range of 725-1000ºC. It is preferable that lithium carbonate be used as the lithium compound, and, in that case, that the calcinating temperature be set in a range of 600-723ºC. It is preferable that the transition-metal-containing composite compound particles containing lanthanum be obtained by means of a coprecipitation method, thus uniformly dispersing the lanthanum element in the particles.
