Abstract:
This method for manufacturing a drill (10) which has formed therein a cutting edge (22), a chip discharge groove (23) extending spirally, and a rake face (24) and which is caused to rotate about the drill center line (CLd), comprises (P01) preparing a workpiece (48) that is to become the drill. The workpiece has formed therein a cutting edge, a chip discharge groove, and a rake face. The method for manufacturing the drill further comprises, after preparing the workpiece, (P02) forming a groove in which a grinding groove (32) extending in a direction in which the chip discharge groove extends is formed in the rake face by grinding the rake face with a rotary grindstone (50) rotating about the grindstone center line (CLg). In the forming the groove, the grindstone center line is made to intersect with the longitudinal direction of the grinding groove. Moreover, in the forming the groove, a rotary body-shaped article, obtained by rotating, about the grindstone center line, a shape pointed outward in the radial direction (DRg) of the grindstone center line, is used as the rotary grindstone.
