Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a ferrule for molding a honeycomb structure and the
ferrule for molding the honeycomb structure. The honeycomb structure comprises
a ferrule base body having two faces. Honeycomb-shaped slits (5) are formed in
one of these two faces, and a rear hole communicating with the slits (5) for leading
a molding material therein is formed in the other. At least the slit parts of the
ferrule are formed of a cemented carbide. After the slits (5) are molded by grinding
or electrical discharge machining, a discharge electrode (40) of square shape
in cross section is disposed near the crossing part of the slits (5), and the electrical
discharge machining is performed from the upper surface part of the slits (5)
in the depth direction of the slits.
