Abstract:
Provided is a method for manufacturing a glass panel unit making it possible to obtain a glass panel unit having no exhaust port. The method for manufacturing a glass panel unit (10) includes an adhesive placement step, an assembly forming step, a joining step, a depressurizing step, and a sealing step. In the assembly forming step, an assembly (100) having an internal space (500) and a ventilation path (600) formed in a thermal adhesive is formed. In the assembly (100), an end surface (412), on the outer space side, of the thermal adhesive constituting the side wall of the ventilation path (600) is located on the same plane as an end surface (201) of a first panel (20) and an end surface (301) of a second panel (30).
