Abstract:
This method for manufacturing a glass roll includes: a conveying step of conveying a glass film G along a longitudinal direction thereof; a cutting step of irradiating the glass film G with a laser light L from a laser irradiation device 19 while conveying the glass film G in the conveying step in order to separate the glass film G into a non-product portion Gc and a product portion Gd; and a winding step of winding the product portion Gd into a rolled state to form a glass roll R. In the cutting step, thread-like scrapings Ge that are generated from widthwise edges of the product portion Gd are collected by winding the thread-like scrapings Ge around rod-shaped collecting members 20a.
